Triple Exposures: A Fundraiser of Multiples will be on view December 8th and 9th, with the auction and party taking place December 10th beginning at 7pm. 50 well known local and national contemporary artists are donating three works of art for this fundraising event. All of the artists have been chosen by the PLATFORM board, and represent the scope of artistic expression in various media.

The Wendy Geller Memorial Lecture presents photographer and scholar Susan Close speaking about her new book Framing Identity: Social Practices of Photography in Canada (1880?1920) on women who used photography to establish their identities during the Suffragette era.

PLATFORM is a venue for this year’s Reel Pride festival, showing recent queer video and film produced in Winnipeg. Curated by J.J. Kegan McFadden.

Performance artist Taeyoon Choi has organized an online cameraphone game based on the first-person shooter video genre. The current site for shootmeifyoucan outlines the game concept, the rules and a history of games played. At first glance it seems little more than a variation on

By exploring typically awe-inspiring landscapes he describes as “bizarre and almost fake”, Toni Hafkenscheid blurs the lines between fact and fiction in his newest exhibition, HO. First inspired by the surreal setting of British Columbia and named after the scale of model train sets, his photographs are taken from real life vistas but resemble the idealized world constructed through miniature models.

Today Apple announced the release of Aperture, its new post-production photography software. The most notable features are the non-destructive image-processing engine and colour-managed printing. The most notable drawbacks are the $600 CDN price tag and the graphics card requirement that limits its use to the Power Mac G5. See the MacNN news item and comments.

In partnership with the Winnipeg Film Group, Cinematheque, and the Send+Receive Festival, Plug In is proud to present an evening of cinematic performance by Vancouver-based media artist Alex Mackenzie. Parallax (2004) is a dynamic event involving the manipulation and merger of two simultaneous film projections to create images that fade in and out of abstraction.

Office 2000, an exhibition of large-scale colour photographs, depicts the usually inaccessible office building interiors lit up at night while the business remains quiet. Kneb?hler provides the viewer with a voyeuristic glimpse into the business sector in an urban landscape by taking photographs from high above street level within another building, allowing the camera and the viewer direct access into the windows of the lit up fish bowl.

Video Pool and Ace Art present an evening of discussion with influential new media curator Sarah Cook. Cook is a Sunderland University doctoral researcher in New Media Curation (a collaboration with the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art).
